Learning material that works when the lecturer isn’t in the room.

ODL Series writes self-instructional material for MPU courses, helps institutions design and review their open and distance learning programmes, and builds the tools that keep the evidence in order.

What we do

Most of our work is with private colleges and universities running ODL programmes. Some of it you can order today; the rest starts with a conversation about your course.

  1. Self-instructional material

Ready-to-use SIM for MPU courses, written for students who study on their own. Every topic has learning outcomes, guided activities, self-checks and a question bank, aligned with the course’s Table 4. Your institution receives a personalised, licensed PDF.

  2. Course review and development

An independent health check of an existing ODL course, a full course transformation into SIM and LMS, or a programme readiness review against COPPA: ODL.

  3. Accreditation readiness

Evidence mapping, documentation templates, LMS preparation and follow-up on corrective actions before and after an MQA visit. For institutions starting from scratch, we plan a phased ODL set-up: policies, templates, staff training, a pilot and quality assurance.

  4. Training for academic staff

Hands-on workshops in SIM writing, OBE and Table 4 alignment, ODL course design with AI, and preparing for an MQA ODL evaluation. Online, or at your institution.

  5. Free eBooks

Short guides and toolkits for ODL teams, free to download. Each copy is personalised to you.

  6. MyCQA and ID Learning Studio

MyCQA checks that a programme’s evidence holds together: Table 4, OBE mapping and Bloom’s levels against MQA standards. ID Learning Studio is where a learning design team plans courses, manages media and follows video analytics.

The team behind the material

A good ODL course is one a student can finish on a Sunday night with nobody to ask. That is the test we write and review against.

Every title and course is made by a small team, and each person has one job:

Learning designers
map the course outcomes, Table 4 and the learning journey.
Subject writers
write each topic in language a student can follow alone.
Media producers
script, record and edit the lesson videos.
Quality reviewers
check every topic against COPPA: ODL before it is delivered.

How a project runs

  1. We start with your learners

Who they are, what the course must achieve, and what material you already have.

  2. We design the learning journey

Every activity and assessment has a clear purpose, mapped to the course outcomes.

  3. We build for real students

Structured SIM and LMS pages that a learner can follow without a lecturer beside them.

  4. We review it with you

We check alignment, clarity and readiness before delivery, and fix what isn’t right.

ODL Series is an independent service provider. Readiness support is not MQA approval and does not guarantee accreditation.
